It’s been a while since I’ve blogged about Shakeology, so I thought I’d share the recipe I am HOOKED on right now. BUUUUT…it’s NOT for everybody.
While I am currently doing PiYo from start to finish, with tomorrow marking the completion of my 2nd week, I’m also incorporating some running and Body Beast a few days per week, too.
I’m training for a half marathon this fall, (running and PiYo), but I’m also taking the next step in my shoulder rehab by incorporating more resistance training. I’m as lean as I want to be…outside of wanting to lose a little belly fat (a.k.a. my lack of focus 🙂 ). Incorporating some intense resistance training in Body Beast will definitely help with the little fat loss I want to stimulate, but also decrease the amount of muscle I “run off” this summer and early fall with my training.
I’ve been VERY hesitant to post that I was doing so much other activity along with PiYo, because I didn’t want my PiYo peeps to get the impression that they need more than PiYo. That’s not the case…I did the Sweat DVD today and you KNOW that’s enough! LOL. I’m doing it because I feel it’s a good combo for my rehab and running training, while still committing to my results with PiYo.
Anyhow, hopefully that explanation will help to understand why I’m having a more caloric shake than normal most days of the week…because my goals and activity level require it. I’D MUCH prefer to go this route with my calories and protein intake, than to consume “just a protein shake” like I used to. Here’s the recipe for a 20 oz Vegan Shakeology POWER Shake that I’ve been enjoying about an hour or so before my workouts.
2 cups of ice
1 cup of water
1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
1 TBSP of La Krema natural peanut butter
1 FULL scoop of Vegan Chocolate Shakeology
1/2 medium banana
1 FULL Scoop of Sun Warrior Chocolate Warrior blend Vegan protein powder
It delivers 38 grams of carbs, 16 grams of healthy fat, and 40 grams of protein in 450 calories. Again, if weight loss is your goal, this probably isn’t your shake. If you have similar goals to me you should try it. So, so delish and nutrient-dense!
